I ordered for will call but was told it was not in stock and would have to be mailed from california for the cost of postage which I agreed too. This is a small one inch long x 3/8 dia item which should have been less than $3 to ship. instead I will billed over $6 which was abougt half the cost of the bit. Seems there is a minimum that I was not told about so disappointing.

Per the supplier: Yes, 12-00879 would be the correct size cutter for 3/8" and 1/2".
Per the supplier: yes, it can work on 4130 steel, but it will wear out the cutter a bit more than what it is designed for (aluminum). We also suggest to use some type of lubricant for the 4130.
These are designed for aluminum. They might work with lexan but we recommend trying it on scrap first to may sure.
